We Were Duped: Cave Dwellers Never Opened for The Beatles

Front man's former band mates call him out publicly on his lie.

Elmhurst Historical Museum, The Doings, TribLocal and, yes, Elmhurst Patch, were taken in by the lead singer of the band, The Cave Dwellers, according to reports in TribLocal and The Daily Herald

In a press release announcing his upcoming talk at Elmhurst Historical Museum last week, front man Gary Goldberg of Elmhurst said that The Cave Dwellers got their big break opening for The Beatles at Comisky Park on Aug. 20, 1965.

Not so, say his bandmates, who called him out publicly on the lie at his speech at the museum Aug. 15, according to TribLocal. The Daily Herald reported Goldberg admitted to having fabricated the story, and that his bandmates have no hard feelings and plan to reunite to make music again.

The museum hosted Goldberg as a part of its last exhibit, which was an exploration of rock and roll history.

Elmhurst Patch ran the misinformation in the events calendar and in a "Today in Elmhurst" feature Thursday, Aug. 15.
