District 205 Board Sets Time Aside Next Week for Community Conversation

Elmhurst District 205 School Board will solicit feedback from community members, but they also will present hard data on the challenges of funding public education.

Members of the Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education want to know what their constituents think, and they have set aside time to meet with community members for that purpose. Parents and community members are invited to attend Conversations with the Board at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the District 205 Center, 162 S. York.

The PTA will again sponsor this event, but the format will be very different from past years. This will be a board-only event; members of the superintendent’s administrative cabinet will not be in attendance that night.

The evening will begin with a presentation, created by members of the Board of Education, regarding the state of the schools in Elmhurst. Topics to be covered include funding sources and challenges, growth in student population and the changing needs of District 205 students, as well as some of the district's accomplishments. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Take a walk in the shoes of a School Board member and share your thoughts and ideas about the value of public education in Elmhurst. Time permitting, other possible topics of discussion will be whether or not District 205 should accept advertising as a form of revenue, as well as the future impact of the sale of Elmhurst Hospital’s Berteau Campus on District 205.

For issues related to school or district administration, please attend a superintendent coffee or check the District 205 website for administrator contact information.
