Couple Found With Drugs, Bloody Rags and a Toddler in Their Vehicle, Police Say
Elmhurst police said they found track marks on the suspects; both are facing child endangerment charges.
Two Lombard residents were arrested in Elmhurst for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles and endangering the life of a child after police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at Route 83 and Riverside Drive at 3:57 p.m. July 26.
Police said Kristin Kugach, 23, 653 West Road, and Thomas R. Knight, 25, of the same address, were located in the car, along with a 2-year-old boy. Police said they observed "track marks" on the suspects and bloody rags in the vehicle. They retrieved a bag containing about 10 used hypodermic heroin needles, three heroin cookers and two Suboxone strips from underneath the passenger seat, where the 2-year-old was seated, police said.
They were taken to DuPage County Jail. Kugach is being held on $2,500 bond. She has an Aug. 8 court date. Knight is being held on $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
