Suspicious Package Discovered at Elmhurst Post Office

Traffic on Park Street was prohibited for a period of time Sunday afternoon so investigators could determine what was inside.

Elmhurst police were alerted to a suspicious package at the Elmhurst Post Office, 154 W. Park St., at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1.

Police said a sealed box was placed under the mailbox in front of the post office. Due to the suspicious nature and location of the package, the Postal Inspection Service was notified, police said. The area in front of the post office was blocked and traffic detoured for a brief period of time.

The postal inspectors x-rayed the package and determined it posed no immediate hazard. Police said it was filled with "electronic media bundles."
