Boy Scout Troop 17 Open House, Sat. Sept. 7th, Butterfield Park

Does your son like to be outdoors?  Do they like to stay active?  Are they inquisitive? Adventurous?

Boy Scout Troop 17 of Elmhurst would like to invite parents and boys to come find out what it’s like to be a Boy Scout.  Stop by and talk with current scouts in the troop and learn about the great program and awesome opportunities available.  There will be a mock campsite to showcase the troop equipment, as well as several demonstrations such as dutch oven cooking, first aid skills, knot tying, rope making, catapult launch and much, much more.  The Boy Scout program is for boys ages 10-18, but younger scouts are more than welcome to come get an early glimpse of what can be in store for them as well.

Message from the Scoutmaster of Troop 17

Over my many years in scouting as both a youth and an adult, I can say that there is truly no other program in the world that provides the magnitude of enrichment than the Boy Scout program.  In no other program can you get skills ranging from first aid and life saving to oceanography and environmental sciences, learn leadership skills, cooking, self sufficiency, citizenship and values that lead to a lasting moral character.  There is a reason so many great men were once Boy Scouts.  Just think, 21 of 24 astronauts who went to the moon were all Eagle Scouts.  That is not by coincidence.  I am truly grateful to be part of such an amazing organization.
