About Renee

I am a 43-year-old Elmhurst mother of three kids: Sophie, 15, Lucas, 13, and Olivia, 11.  I grew up in Flossmoor and spent most of my free time with my three siblings at our family's Italian restaurant in Chicago Heights.

I graduated from Loyola University  with a degree in English in 1990, and I used that degree to acquire my English husband  in a bar in Chicago called Max Tavern.  My husband, Peter, and I moved to London together after knowing each other  two months and were married within the year.  We raised our kids in England  for 11 years and moved to Elmhurst in 2005 to let them experience the great city of Chicago, lemonade stands and people who pack your groceries for you.  We love Elmhurst and have never looked back!

Renee,
I was shocked to learn that the Education Foundation 205 has invited Kelly Miller Circus back again this year. http://www.elmhurst205.org/KMC
Last year the USDA found them in violation of the Animal Welfare Act. In July 2011 the USDA cited the tiger exhibitor Natalie Cainan traveling with Kelly Miller Circus for violating the Animal Welfare Act after three tigers escaped from their transport enclosures an bit a horse, took staff 30 minutes to get them back into their cages.
On October 7, 2011 the USDA cited Carson & Barnes performing as the Kelly Miller Circus, with a direct violation of the AWA for failure to have an experienced animal handler in direct control of a dangerous animal during public elephant rides? The USDA inspector also cited the circus for having only one handler for two elephants during rides. http://acissearch.aphis.usda.gov/LPASearch/faces/CustomerSearch.jspx;jsessionid=7f00000130d9d29ba5d134f743e68724964dd452ceb5.e38Obx8Sb3yQby0LbN8SaxmRc3eSe0
Please pass this information along.

I loved that book! It's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. Do you have any others you love that you've read in the past?

Thank you so much Julie! What a wonderful message to come home to. I just got stuck in traffic with a melting ice cream cake in my car for my daughter's birthday and when I got home I realized I miscalculated and it is too big to fit into our freezer! This message cheered me up. Aside from being a Mediocre Mom I am also a Mediocre Marketer so any news you can spread via word of mouth would mean a lot to me! Thanks again and I hope you enjoy this beautiful weather! :)Renee Gough
