Police Capture Armed Robbery Suspect After Search in North Elmhurst Wednesday
Chicago man is being held without bond.
Elmhurst police captured the person they believe robbed a Shell gas station at gunpoint after they tracked him down in a north Elmhurst neighborhood Wednesday night. Mario Williams, 24, 408 E. 62nd, Unit 1, Chicago, was arrested and charged with armed robbery after he was tracked to North Virginia Lane Sept. 12. Police were called to the Shell station, 926 N. York, at about 7:40 p.m. The clerk described Williams, who reportedly was wearing a black hat and had a black bandana covering his face. The clerk said he displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The clerk gave him about $600 or $700, and Williams fled on foot, eastbound across York Road, police said. On the serious side, though, I was a forty year resident of OP and am relieved to see trouble nipped in the bud in Elmhurst.
