Elmhurst Aldermen Will Continue Discussion Monday on Criteria for Hahn Street, Capital Projects

Aldermen will meet as a committee of the whole, then in their four standing committees; public comment is welcome.

Elmhurst City Council members will meet as a committee of the whole at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to continue to review criteria that will go into a request for proposals for the Hahn Street project. The city presented a first draft for the RFP Nov. 26. The site, bordered by North Avenue, York Road, Addison and Third streets, is part of the new North York Road tax increment financing district. The RFP will ask developers to share their vision of a project with first-floor retail and residences on the upper floors, although the city is open to other creative ideas. Last year, consultants recommended apartments for the site, but not all aldermen were on board with that idea. Following the Committee…

D L Conversion into green space could be done inexpensively and would create usable space for the general public. Development could take place in the future should the economy recover.   more ›
