Editor's Note: The following press release was submitted by Illinois Senate Republican staff: State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) has introduced legislation he says will increase transparency when amending the state pension code. Senate Bill 3566 and Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 47 limit future amendments to the Illinois Pension Code to one pension fund or retirement system at a time. Dillard explained this would prevent circumstances where controversial pension amendments are quietly passed as part of more sweeping legislation that advances widely accepted or desired pension changes. “We’ve seen numerous media reports highlighting egregious abuses of the state pension systems that flew under the radar because the …

Editors note: This information was provided by the Illinois Senate Republican staff. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) was appointed to the state’s Veterans’ Memorial Commission by Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont). “Members of our Armed Forces should be honored and treated with respect in death, just as they were in life,” Dillard said. “I’m eager to do my part to ensure that all Illinois memorials established to honor our deceased service men and service women receive the long-term maintenance and care needed to preserve the monument.” Last spring, Dillard sponsored legislation that sought to deter theft or defacement of a veteran’s grave stone. “As the value of metal has increased, there has been an increase…

Latest candidate debate a prelude to a Feb. 12 forum in Elmhurst.
Term limits was one of the topics of the evening at a candidate forum in Wheaton Tuesday. State Rep. Chris Nybo (R-41st, Elmhurst) who is running in the newly drawn 24th Senate District, faced off against Sen. Kirk Dillard, the incumbent in the current 24th. Nybo is serving his first term in the state House, and Dillard has spend 17 years in the Senate. At a forum hosted by the Wheaton League of Women Voters and the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Nybo said one of his top priorities if elected will be to impose term limits on all members of the General Assembly, and he filed a bill Jan. 10 that would accomplish that. Nybo said in a press release that state representatives should serve no more than six terms, and senators should be limited to …

Opts against re-election bid that would pit him against fellow GOP representative
Touting all 2,800 petition signatures came from door-to-door work across the 24th Senate District, State Rep. Chris Nybo announced Monday he had filed to run in the Republican primary for the redrawn seat. The 24th District includes all or parts of Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Western Springs, Westmont, Wheaton and Willowbrook. Nybo, an Elmhurst resident, blamed the Democrat-drawn district map for pitting Republican against one another, including in his current 41st House district. "In the 41st District that I currently represent, I would be forced to run against Rep. Patti Bellock. We need more female representation in Springfield so I would not run …

Politicians say plan will save the state up to $6.7 billion annually.
“Illinois is sick and it’s time we take our medicine.” That is how state Sen. Carole Pankau (R-23rd) described Illinois’ financial situation during a media event touting Republican budget proposals targeting $6.7 billion in budget cuts. Pankau, along with fellow Republican Sens. Kirk Dillard (R-24th), Ron Sandack (R-21st), John Millner (R-28th), Chris Lauzen (R-25th) and Tom Johnson (R-48th) said their planned cuts will put Illinois’ fiscal house back in order. Dillard said if the state continues to follow the fiscal course set by Gov. Pat Quinn, the state will run an annual deficit of billions of dollars. He said if only $5 billion of savings is realized, then the state can avoid a deficit of $22 billion in five years and that Democrats …

Too bad about NYbo, but I think Dillard has some redeeming qualities, I am not going to the Democrats for representation. Tell me more about the waste and corruption in the township level of government. We waste millions with some do nothings in that level of government. Why do we need them? I have heard how all they do is provide jobs and pensions for a select few and provide no benefits for the…   more ›
