York High School Has a New Athletic Director

Ron Murphy comes to District 205 from Oswego East High School, where he is wrapping up his duties as assistant AD, head basketball coach and teacher.

Ron Murphy, a teacher and assistant athletic director at Oswego East High School since 2005, was confirmed by Elmhurst District 205 School Board Tuesday as the new York High School athletic director. Murphy was selected after an extensive search that involved York administrators, student athletes, parent Boosters, the interim athletic directors and coaches, District 205 Superintendent David Pruneau told the School Board Tuesday. "It is my pleasure tonight to recommend to the board that Ron Murphy be the next athletic director in District 205," he said. "We're pleased to bring this to the board tonight." Elmhurst Loses Long-time York High School Coach, Former Athletic Director Jack Tosh

Tosh passed away on Monday, Feb. 11. "Jack touched many, many lives in the York community," York Principal Diana Smith said.

Jack Tosh, former York High School athletic director and coach, died Monday, Feb. 11, according to information released this afternoon by York Principal Diana Smith. Tosh was the namesake of the annual Jack Tosh Holiday Classic basketball  tournament. York swept the tournament this year, beating Conant High School 30-29 in the championship game Dec. 29. The championship was undoubtedly a source of pride for Coach Tosh, Smith said. "Jack touched many, many lives in the York community," Smith said in an email to York staff. "Many of our staff members are close friends, and several were hired by Jack and coached alongside him."
