Wind Advisory: Overnight 25-35 mph Winds, Gusts to 50 mph

The National Weather Service issued the advisory from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday as cold weather moves into the area.

If you’ve been wondering where the winter weather has been in the Tri-Cities and the greater Chicago area, brace yourself: The answer tonight is blowing in the wind. Strong winds will sweep through the Chicago area, bringing colder temperatures and the possibility of snow flurries Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a wind advisory from 7 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday, according to Accuweather, as colder weather and possible snow flurries move into the area. The wind advisory forecasts west to northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph gusting to about 50 mph, although a few gusts up to 55 mph are possible. Wind Advisory for Kane, DuPage Counties Until 7 p.m. Sunday

The winds could cause minor property damage. Here's what you need to know.

A wind advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. this Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service. A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts between 45 and 57 mph are likely. The following advisory was released at 2:46 p.m. Sunday: "Southwest winds will continue at 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts up to 45 mph this afternoon. A cold front will push across the area late this afternoon and early this evening, turning the winds out of the west. As the front passes, there could be a few gusts up to 50 mph for a short period of time. Wind gusts to 50 mph are also possible near thunderstorms. The winds are expected to abate this evening.
