Valentine's Day Arrests; Can You Feel the Love?

Arrests for cannabis, shooting out windows, theft and more were recorded on Valentine's Day, Thursday.

Fortunately, there were no massacres on Valentine's Day this year, but Elmhurst police were kept busy nonetheless. Here is a listing of arrests made on Thursday, Feb. 14. Veronica Guma, 22, 2413 George St., Franklin Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over her tan Hyundai Sonata for improper lane use at Schiller and Willow at 2:38 a.m. Feb. 14. She was released on bond. Maxtin Cambra-Munoz, 19, 277 Fair, Elmhurst, and Jackson Lucero, 20, 416 S. Prairie Ave., Elmhurst, were charged under city ordinance with use of an air rifle to endanger property after police received a call from a resident on the 200 block of Boyd Street at 4:34 p.m. Feb. 14. If I didn't see it done myself, I would have sworn Stevie Wonder hung my closet rods.

After almost six years in my house, I decided it was time to clean my closet. The only problem is my version of cleaning usually includes some sort of remodeling.  In my head, the job was simple enough: I would reduce three walls of inaccessible hanging space to one well-organized wall by removing the rod from one, and installing it on the other. I even measured. As it turned out, the project was more archeology than architecture—the builder made a mess of the original job. Years ago, as the carpenter installed the rods, I walked into the room to tell him how I wanted the space configured. He told me he didn’t care and he was going to do what he wanted.
