Elmhurst District 205 Superintendent Lynn Krizic Has a New Job

Krizic is moving to Rhode Island to become superintendent for Portsmouth School Department.

The Portsmouth, R.I., School Department has hired former Elmhurst District 205 Superintendent Lynn Krizic as its new superintendent. The School Committee in Portsmouth hired Krizic Tuesday, in what Portsmouth Patch is calling a "surprise" move. The appointment of a superintendent was not listed on the meeting's agenda.  Current Portsmouth Superintendent Susan Lusi announced on Jan. 11 she would not seek renewal of her contract. A search committee was hired to find her replacement. The final three candidates were supposed to have been presented to the School Committee at the end of May, but when that actually happened is unclear, Portsmouth Patch Editor Sandy McGee said. A unanimous vote to offer the job to Krizic took place last Wednesday…

Why would we concern ourselves with this? She is no longer here. We have more pressing issues. Could she have simply forgot to do this? Making a big deal out of trivia is nothing more than a witch hunt and meaningless. I guess some people thrive on gossip and trash talk. I can't say it doesn't sell. Look at the wasteland that TV is. Trash magazines sell very well. Gossip columnist do alright. Eye…   more ›

The New Math: Adding up a Superintendent's Salary

Patch compares compensation of school district superintendents around the region.

Education funding remains one of the singularly most debated public policy issues of the day, with salary and benefits headlining the discussion. Patch surveyed 12 local school districts to shed some light on just how much our superintendents are being paid.   All salary, other compensation, budget and school information have been collected from actual budgets, compensation reports and other official financial documents made available under Illinois law by every school district.   Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Dr. Lynn S. Krizic’s tenure as superintendent of Elmhurst Unit District 205 hasn’t been without controversy. Named to the post by the School Board in 2006, Krizic will not be returning next school year. Elmhurst Community Welcomes New Superintendent David Pruneau

Elmhurst District 205's new superintendent, David Pruneau, had his first official meet and greet with parents and Elmhurst dignitaries Friday.

Elmhurst District 205’s newly hired superintendent David Pruneau and his wife, Sue, joined current and future School Board members, parents, students and Elmhurst officials at a reception in his honor Friday evening at York High School. Pruneau made the four-hour trip from Rochester, Mich., where he is finishing up the school year as superintendent of the Rochester Community School District, to spend the weekend in Elmhurst. He begins his official duties with District 205 July 1. A York string quartet entertained guests in the commons at the school, and a buffet of finger foods was provided by the York food service team. David Pruneau Introduced as the New Superintendent of Elmhurst Unit District 205

Pruneau spent about an hour talking to reporters this morning, and he will be in Elmhurst April 15 to talk to the community. He starts his new job July 1.

David L. Pruneau has set building relationships and trust as a priority in his new job as superintendent of Elmhurst Unit District 205. “I’m not coming in as the answer man,” he told a contingent of reporters during a conference call this morning. “I’m coming in to help people achieve their vision, either individually, as a group or as a district.” Pruneau, 60, is retiring from his position as superintendent at Rochester Community Schools in Rochester, Mich. That district is facing $16 million in budget cuts for next year, he said, “because the coffers are empty at the state level.” He wasn’t hesitant to answer questions about collecting a retirement pension from Michigan while on salary in Elmhurst. “I wasn’t ready to retire,” he said. “…

I hope Dr. Dave can continue the great education system 7 traditions in Dist. 205. Both my kids went to York H.S. and received an excellent education and were well prepared for college - what more could you ask for! I just hope the District does not get tax happy and raise our taxes. Please no more referendums, that are not needed.   more ›
