Former Baseball Coach, Arrested in Elmhurst Last Year, Filmed Sex Acts with Player, Lawsuit Alleges

Spiro Lempesis, arrested last May in Elmhurst on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy, promised the Concordia player major league connections in exchange for sex, according to the lawsuit.

A former Concordia University baseball player claims he was forced to perform sex acts on his coach in exchange for the promise of connections with major league scouts, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. Anthony Collaro, who pitched for the Cougars from 2008-2011, alleges in the complaint that former Coach Spiro Lempesis videotaped between 20-30 sexual encounters. Concordia fired Lempesis in September 2010 over allegations of sexual misconduct. The university announced in October 2012 that it would conduct an independent investigation into the claims. Former Coach's Arrest in Elmhurst Last Summer Prompts Further Investigation by Concordia University

University investigation, now completed, was prompted after Spiro Lempesis was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor in Elmhurst.

Former Concordia University baseball coach Spiro Lempesis, who was fired in 2010 over allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct with someone who was not a minor, reportedly has been under additional scrutiny by the university recently. The new investigation, which the university announced on Monday has been completed, stems from Lempesis's arrest last June in Elmhurst on suspicion of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy. Elmhurst police never filed charges in the June arrest, and Elmhurst Patch has not yet received the police report.
