UPDATED: Elmhurst Police Respond in Full Force After Call for 'Shots Fired' on Fern Sunday Night

Neighbors uneasy as police arrive in back yard with weapons drawn.

Clarification 3:20 p.m. April 24: The three individuals were cited under city ordinance for unlawful discharge of an air rifle. They were released on I-bond at the scene and will be notified of a court date. -------------------- Update 5 p.m. April 22: John P. Pyznarski, 51, 7360 W. 108th St., Worth; Joseph Kniece, 29, 11407 Edinburgh, Huntley; and Joseph A. Zellman, 29, 959 Fern, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police found them shooting air rifles at a target in the back yard of the home at 959 Fern at 7:31 p.m. April 21, according to a police report. A 14-year-old boy who was with them was transported home, police said. Police received a call for "shots fired—possible automatic weapon." -------------------- …

Elmhurst Police Hunt Armed Robbery Suspect in Lombard, Man Arrested for Soliciting Sex

And, missing person found unconscious.

Elmhurst police and their K-9 unit were dispatched twice Sunday night to assist other agencies. At 9:40 p.m., they were dispatched to Lombard to assist in the tracking of a suspect after an armed robbery at 9:40 p.m. Jan. 6. The robbery was reported at the 7-Eleven at Crescent and St. Charles Road, near Interstate 355. The suspect was seen running westbound. At 9:46 p.m. the same night, Elmhurst police were dispatched to Villa Park to assist with a call for shots fired at Motel 6, 10 W. Roosevelt Road. No weapon or shell casings were discovered, according to a police report. Police did not indicate if the two cases were related. Thomas D. Sims, 28, 275 W. Residents Hear Gunfire Near Plunkett Park

Shotgun shells found.

A resident near Monterey and Thomas streets reported that he heard shots fired near his home in the area of Plunkett Park at 10 p.m. July 14. He told police he heard popping sounds that sounded much louder than fireworks and more like gunfire. The man walked through the park on July 16 and found five rounds of red, 12-gauge shotgun shells. Neighbors in the area told police they also heard the shots. The shells were placed into evidence.

Elmhurst Man Reports Suspect Fired Two Shots

Gun was not recovered.

A resident on the 200 block of North Berteau told police that a man he had been in an argument with fired a gun out of his car window Sunday. Police were called to the scene for a domestic incident at 12:47 p.m. They met with the victim, who has children with a woman who now reportedly lives with the suspect, a 47-year-old Streamwood man. The victim told police he argued with the suspect over the discipline of the victim’s two daughters. The victim told police the suspect got into his car and grabbed a handgun and pointed it at him. The victim walked away, and as the suspect drove off, he allegedly held the gun out of the window and fired two shots. The suspect was apprehended but no gun was recovered.
