Police Blotter: Property Damage Reports for October Include Bullet Hole, Gang Graffiti

Also, messes made with ketchup, banana peels, eggs and black goo.

Someone damaged the egress basement window of a home on the 100 block of Mayo Court between 9 a.m. Sept. 28 and 9:42 a.m. Oct. 4. The window had been smashed, apparently from the outside, and glass was found all over the interior floor. The victim said she had previous vandalism incidents involving ketchup, banana peels and a running garden hose. Gang graffiti was found on window panes at King Transmission, 180 W. Grand Avenue. The manager told police the defacement must have occurred between 1 p.m. Oct. 6 and 6 a.m. Oct. 8. Police identified the markings as belonging to the Orchestra Albany street gang. Police Report Incidents of Retail Theft, Bike Theft and ID Theft

Vicente Gomez, 49, 2 N. Church St. Apt. 2C, Addison, was charged under city ordinance for retail theft after allegedly taking $25 in merchandise from Kohl's at 5:38 p.m. Sept. 6. Leticia Regalado-Campos, 50, of the same address, was charged on state charges of retail theft for taking $105 in merchandise from Kohl's. Both were released on I-bond. A black, 20-inch, men's Giant 21-speed mountain bike worth between $300 and $500 was stolen from a home on the 100 block of North Maple Avenue between 3 p.m. Aug. 31 and 8 p.m. Sept. 2. The bike, which was locked to a railing in front of the house, was purchased by Elmhurst College as part of the student Bike to School program. Smashed, Trashed and Splashed: Elmhurst Police Report Property Damage

Reports recorded during the month of August.

Someone broke the back window of a vehicle parked on the 400 block of South Kenilworth at 1:22 a.m. Aug. 2. Damage is $200. Someone splashed a white paint-like substance on a car parked on the 300 block of Winthrop between 9 p.m. Aug. 4 and 8 a.m. Aug. 5. Someone slashed the right front tire of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix parked on a lot on the 400 block of West Butterfield Road sometime before it was discovered at 3:35 p.m. Aug. 7. Damage is estimated at $50. Someone smashed a ceramic dog ornament in the street after taking it from the front of a home on the 400 block of North Highview 9 a.m. Aug. 8 and 7 a.m. Aug. 9. Elmhurst Police Report Incidents of Theft, Attempted Burglary and Property Damage

Pry marks found, alarm activated while homeowner was out of town.

A resident of the 400 block of South York Street was contacted by ADT while he was out of town between July 7 and 21. The company told him that the area of coverage was the side door, but police officers checked the house and it was secure. The resident received several more calls from ADT over a period of a couple of days, but he elected not to do anything under the assumption that it was a faulty sensor, police said. When the resident arrived home, he noticed pry marks on the side door. It appeared no one entered the home. A debit card that was inside a purse stolen in Bensenville on July 20 was used at Shell and McDonald's in Elmhurst the next day. A woman who was in line at the register at Jewel, 944 S. Eggs Thrown, Paintballs Shot, Concrete Cracked and Windows Smashed

Several weeks of property damage incidents as reported by Elmhurst police.

Elmhurst police reported a number of incidences of property damage over the past month. Reports were released between June 9 and July 11. Windows were shattered on a dealership's car parked at Honda of Elmhurst, 300 W. Grand Ave., sometime between 10:30 p.m. June 7 and 9 a.m. June 8. The vehicle was locked and nothing appeared to be missing. Damage is estimated at $500. Someone drew a penis and wrote the word "slut" on the sidewalk in front of a home on the 200 block of East Third Street between 12:30 and 2 p.m. June 9. Several eggs also were thrown at the home, causing damage to the aluminum siding. Wow this is such a crazy story. It sounds familiar, with all the trouble makers running around town. I just can't believe there were even cracks in the concrete and windows smashed in. I do agree that this is normal activity, and even though people are sick of all the "cracks in the concrete" and "eggs" people should have been a little more calm. Burglary Reported on Wilson, But the Home Was Vacant

Also, property damage reported April 19 to May 2.

Residential Burglary Between 7 p.m. May 1 and 11 a.m. May 2, someone entered a home on the 200 block of East Wilson by forcing open two basement windows. The home was empty because the residents had moved out, and nothing was stolen. But they did notice the upstairs bedroom door to the deck was open, as were built-in dresser drawers. Damage to the windows is estimated at $500. Property Damage Someone punctured the left rear tire on a vehicle parked on the 200 block of North West Avenue between 3 and 6:38 a.m. April 19. The victim said the same tire had been punctured the day before, and she had just replaced the tire at a cost of $112. Windows Smashed, Cars Damaged, and Eggs and Paintballs Fired at Houses

Property damage reports from March 15 through April 15.

Someone broke the post of a mailbox on the 1000 block of Prospect between 7 p.m. March 16 and 9 a.m. March 17. Someone broke several wooden spindles on the front wooden porch of a home on the 300 block of East St. Charles Road at 3 a.m. March 18. The victim's step-daughter was home with friends when she heard a noise and saw two males running from the home. Beer cans were found on the ground. Someone spray-painted the north wall of the Salt Creek Bridge at St. Charles Road. An officer noticed the damage while on bicycle patrol at 8:07 a.m. March 20. Smashed and Splashed: Elmhurst Police Report Property Damage

Several windows reportedly shot by BB guns, and words spray-painted on walls.

The following property damage reports were made between Feb. 16 and March 12. Mint green paint was splashed on the overhead garage door of a home on the 100 block of Glenview between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 8:45 a.m. Feb. 18. Someone keyed the drivers side of a gray Subaru Outback that was parked at the Elmhurst YMCA, 211 W. First St., between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Feb. 16.  Damage is estimated at $2,000. Someone removed a fire extinguisher from a secure case on the north wall of the fourth level of the parking deck at 175 W. First St. sometime before 7:08 p.m. Feb. 25 and discharged it into the stairwell and elevator. A total of six extinguishers had been tampered with. Theft Someone took a blue bag with "Villa Park Bank" printed on it from an unlocked vehicle parked at the Schiller parking deck, 116 Schiller, between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The bag contained $76. Someone stole an unlocked 26-inch Schwinn Continental 10-speed men's bicycle from the train station, 128 W. First St., between 8 p.m. Feb. 9 and 1 p.m. Feb. 10. A resident returning from a trip to Europe in January said she was approached by a subject at the airport who asked her to participate in a survey to win free air travel. Home on Maison Court Burglarized, Witness Calls in Suspicious People and Car Hits House

Residential Burglary A home on the 200 block of Maison Court was burglarized between midnight Feb. 7 and 9 a.m. Feb. 14. A neighbor, who was in charge of checking on the house while the resident was away, went inside and noticed that a bedroom had been ransacked and a window was ajar. So far, only jars of coins are known to be missing. Suspicious Vehicle A witness told police he saw a suspicious vehicle parked on the entrance ramp of eastbound Interstate 290 from St. Charles Road at 10:25 a.m. Feb. 13. The witness said he saw a man standing outside the vehicle looking at the back yards of homes.
