Vehicle Use Policy, Rifle Purchase, Mariano's Liquor License and More on City Agenda Monday

City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 209 N. York St.

Now that City of Elmhurst budget talks are complete, aldermen have been focusing on a number of other items, including a sewer rate increase and acquisition of property in the North York tax increment financing district, both of which are on the agenda Monday, April 15. Before the regular City Council meeting, aldermen will meet in executive session at 7 p.m. to discuss pending litigation, purchase or lease of real property and appointment, employment or compensation of a city officer or employee. The regular meeting will be called to order at 7:30 p.m., and will begin with a proclamation recognizing April as Autism Awareness Month. Drive-Through, Liquor License, Sewer Rates On Committee Agendas Monday

On the eve of Election Day, Elmhurst aldermen continue business as usual.

Chik-fil-a needs permission for a drive-through, Mariano's reps are asking for a liquor license, sewer rates once agreed upon are back to the drawing board and various summer events are up for discussion at Elmhurst committee meetings tonight. Elmhurst Aldermen Continue Budget Talks Monday

Aldermen also will meet in their committees to talk about TIF incentive policy, sewer rates, sidewalks and more.

Elmhurst City Council members will continue their fiscal year 2013 budget talks when they meet as a Committee of the Whole at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11. For an outline of budget items up for discussion, click here. But before the budget discussion takes place, aldermen have allowed about an hour to meet in their standing committees, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee will continue review of a tax increment finance and sales tax incentive policy, and will begin review of sewer rates. Aldermen Will Discuss Binding Referendum on Dual Elected Duty Monday

Elmhurst City Council members will meet at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, to discuss, among other things, a referendum on whether a city official should be allowed to hold more than one elected position simultaneously. The Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Service Committee was split at its meeting last week on whether to hold a referendum on the issue in November or in April. The committee will present both opinions to the full council. But first, the Finance Committee will meet at 6 p.m. to review the draft redevelopment agreement with Mariano's grocery store. Elmhurst Epicureans, Our Ships Have Come In!

Add two more specialty shops to our growing list for fabulous local food.

Elmhurst, our culinary ships are sailing in so fast I can’t keep track of all our new food stores, specialty shops and bakeries.  In the past year we have had new additions such as Amano Boucherie (105 S. York St.), Pazzi di Pizza (105 S. York), Good Earth (555 S. York), Rosalia’s Deli (241 N. York) and Heavenly Cupcakes (162 N. York). Add these to our old favorites like Chow (116 W. Park Ave.) and this town is turning into an epicurean delight. Well, we have two more places to add to our list. Elmhurst is finally getting a new bakery. Bleeding Heart Bakery, will be opening at 116 S. York in the next few weeks. Described on its web site as "local, sustainable, punk rock pastry," the designer cakes and cupcakes appear to have an avant-garde…

Good Earth is one of the ugliest buildings in town, built right on top of the side walk and obstructs motorists views going westbound. How did this terrible building pass zoning codes. It is the eyesore of York and Vallette. Their business model was even uglier.   more ›
