New Year Could Bring Settlement In District 205 School District Wage Lawsuit

Federal judge schedules Jan. 15 hearing for update on possible resolution.

A resolution could be in the works for a lawsuit filed against the Elmhurst School District earlier this year by administrative personnel who claimed the district shorted their pay. According to federal court records, a judge has scheduled a Jan. 15 settlement conference in the lawsuit filed in March by attorneys for Suzanne Holler, Mary Caliri and other “similarly situated employees.” They have until Jan. 2 to share a settlement proposal with lawyers for the district, who were given until Jan. 9 to respond. Attorneys for both sides could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday. The suit contends the district owes unpaid wages and overtime to administrative employees who worked for the district within the last six years. The …

Employees File Class Action Lawsuit Against Elmhurst District 205

Lawsuit filed in March alleges the district failed to pay agreed-upon wages and overtime to administrative personnel over the past six years.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 has until July 25 to file a response to a class action lawsuit filed by former and current administrative personnel employed by the district over the last six years. Attorney Terrence Buehler, of the Daniel G. Austin Law Group LLC in Chicago, filed the suit in U.S. District Court March 22 on behalf of Suzanne S. Holler and Mary A. Caliri, and other past and present "similarly situated employees." The suit alleges the district owes the employees unpaid wages and overtime, and is in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Illinois Minimum Wage Law, and the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act. that is freaking hilarious, it might be true. I believe the school district 205 is probably guilty. sadly enough this is not good for tax payers, because whomever allowed this to go on should be held civily liable for their own punitive damages. at the same time district 205, needs to start axing teachers to cut costs.   more ›
