'Mom' Will be Calling Us to Come in for Dinner Soon

Another couple of months and the build-out of Kitchen Eatery in Elmhurst will be complete.

You can't miss them. The workers building out the old Kopper Kitchen site at Route 83 and St. Charles Road are working at one of the busiest intersections in DuPage County. So, what are they up to, when can we eat there and what's on the menu? The new logo for Kitchen Eatery offers a clue. One glimpse and you're transported back to mom's meatloaf, baked mac and cheese, and chicken and gravy, all served up on her 1950s, retro-fab formica dinette set. The menu at Kitchen Eatery will be full of all those great comfort foods of days gone by—but the decor won't exactly be that of a '50s diner, said CSP Investment President Chris Conglis, who is leading the build-out and will run the restaurant. The project has taken a little longer than planned…

Kopper Kitchen Site Will be Vacant No More

A brand new, revamped family restaurant is slated to take its place.

A brand new restaurant is going into the old Kopper Kitchen building at 601 W. St. Charles Road. CSP Investment Inc. is asking the Elmhurst City Council to consider granting a liquor license to Kitchen Eatery so patrons will be able to order beer and wine tableside. Kitchen Eatery will be open from 6:30 a.m. through midnight weekdays, possibly later on weekends, according to a memo provided to aldermen. The menu will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options all day. The location, on the northwest corner of St. Charles Road and Route 83, one of the busiest intersections in DuPage County, had been home to Kopper Kitchen for 40 years. It is good to know what is going on with that corner. I drive past there every day commuting to work. Duirng my short time living in Elmurst back in 1999 I ate there a couple of times.   more ›
