Enhanced DUI Enforcement Period Concludes With Multiple Arrests

Aside from a period of rain on Thanksgiving Day, local weather conditions were relatively mild over the long holiday weekend. But that didn't prevent Elmhurst police from tending to at least 26 traffic accidents in town, two of which involved driving under the influence of alcohol. The weekend also concluded another enhanced DUI enforcement period for local police thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The stepped-up DUI enforcement period, which began Nov. 12 and continued through Nov. 25, provided for additional officers on the streets during the overnight hours.
