Homeless Woman Found Sleeping in a Yard and Food Pantry Recipient Gets No-trespass Order

Korrine E. Kupris, 41, homeless, was arrested on two warrants after police received a call for a homeless person sleeping in a yard on the 300 block of Hill Street at 7:38 a.m. Jan. 9. She was taken to DuPage County Jail. Police responded to Immaculate Conception Parish, 134 Arthur, for a disturbance at the food pantry at 11:12 a.m. Jan. 9. A food pantry recipient was asked to move his vehicle by staff, and he became belligerent. He threatened to "come back and get you guys," police said. He was no longer on the scene by the time police arrived, but he will be issued a no-trespass notice. The passenger rear window was reported smashed on a vehicle parked on the 200 block of North Willow at 8:23 p.m. Jan. 5. Damage is estimated at $200. …

That is horrible, in the Great Depression of the 1920's it was common, and acceptable for people to go to the back doors of homes to knock on the door for a sandwich. I feel awful for that woman, especially in this freezing cold weather.   more ›
