Congressman Mike Quigley Was in Elmhurst Thursday—Undercover

He might have prepared a burger for you.

If you had a burger at Hamburger Jones during the lunch rush on Thursday, it might have been made by Elmhurst's Congressman Mike Quigley (D-5th). Quigley was in Elmhurst as an "Undercover Congressman," a regular program designed to bring him closer to his constituents in an everyday environment—their work world. He has delivered packages with UPS, made candy at the Mars Factory, collected garbage, even cleaned the rhino pen at Lincoln Park Zoo. But Thursday, it was all about the burgers. The kitchen at Hamburger Jones is rather tight—and intense—during the lunch hour. Orders are up, food is sizzling, wait staff is rushing in and out. There is no messing around. Quigley, wearing his chef's uniform, was all business. He was literally too …

This is a joke. I would rather have him come to Elmhurst and hear how we feel about issues that are confronting us. But I guess we don't count because we're majority Republicans and he's taking his marching orders from the Democratic Party.   more ›

Hamburger Jones Aims for September Debut in Former Good Earth Market Building

On Monday, the Public Affairs and Safety Committee heard a proposal from Anthony Gambino, owner of Salseria Grill and Cantina, to use 2,200 square feet of the building, including the greenhouse area, for…

I like that is different than any thing you can find in elmhurst. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich that was awesome. The server was very attentive and the place was mobbed on a Friday night. Beer list is boring but is priced correctly. It is in the early stages and I hope they continue to chose quality over cutting corner on the menu. Like what I would call a beer garden in the old green house …   more ›

Committee Agendas Give a Glimpse into What May be Coming to Elmhurst

Liquor license for a new restaurant, an Oktoberfest celebration, a sidewalk sale all up for discussion Monday.

Is Elmhurst getting a new hamburger joint? One appears to be in the works, based on Monday's Public Affairs and Safety Committee agenda. In addition to an establishment called Hamburger Jones looking for a Class RL liquor license, Pint's is planning an Oktoberfest celebration, which also needs city approval. The other items on tonight's PAS Committee agenda are discussions about a sidewalk sale at Solaris Jewelry and the Bike Friendly America initiative. The Public Works and Buildings Committee also will meet Monday. Members will discuss progress on work related to the July 1 storm, the atrium force main replacement project, Schiller/Palmer parking structure maintenance and repairs and the "pending items" list. The Finance, Council Affairs…
