Elmhurst College Running Back Wins Gagliardi Trophy

Downers Grove South alum Scottie Williams re-wrote Elmhurst College's record book in 2012, achieved academic success in the classroom and volunteered on projects that changed lives.

It's official. Elmhurst College running back Scottie Williams has been named the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III. Williams was presented the Gagliardi Trophy Wednesday, Dec. 12, in Salem, Va. The award is presented by Jostens and the J-Club of St. John's University in Minnesota. Williams, a senior at Elmhurst College, is a graduate of Downers Grove South High School. He is the first Elmhurst player to earn the prestigious award, which honors excellence in athletics, academics and community service. He also is just the fifth running back to receive the honor over the past 20 seasons. Gagliardi Trophy: Elmhurst College Running Back Scottie Williams Makes it to the Final Four

Elmhurst College's Scottie Williams received nearly 24,500 fan votes—the most of any of the 10 finalists. Winner will be announced Wednesday.

Scottie Williams, senior running back for Elmhurst College, was named a Top 4 Finalist for the 2012 Gagliardi Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III by Jostens and the J-Club of Saint John's University of Minnesota. The winner will be announced on Wednesday in Salem, Va. Williams was named to the Top 10 finalists in November after his stellar performance with Elmhurst College this season. The Bluejays' record-breaking season came to an end in the second round of NCAA playoffs against the University of St. Thomas (Minn.). Williams, a marketing major, led the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in rushing, with 1,153 yards. He closed out his CCIW career ranked second all-time, with 3,507 …

Bluejay Running Back is Finalist for Gagliardi Trophy as Elmhurst Takes the Field Saturday For Game 2

Elmhurst takes on University of St. Thomas in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs Saturday, Nov. 24, in St. Paul, Minn.

Elmhurst College Bluejays (10-1) will take on the University of St. Thomas Tommies in Round 2 of NCAA Division III Championships at noon Saturday, Nov. 24, at O'Shaughnessy Stadium, 2115 Summit Ave., St. Paul, Minn. The #3 ranked Tommies (11-0) beat St. Norbert College 48-17 on Nov. 17. Elmhurst took care of Coe College last week 27-24 in its first-ever playoff victory. To add a little icing to the playoff cake, Elmhurst College running back Scottie Williams is one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III.
