Four-car Crash at York and St. Charles Involves Lombard Police Squad

Southbound York Road was closed for a period of time Sunday evening while officers tried to piece together what happened.

Drivers in the area of York and St. Charles roads Sunday evening saw an array of colorful lights, but it wasn't a holiday display. About a half-dozen emergency vehicles were on the scene of a four-car accident involving a Lombard police officer just north of St. Charles Road on York a little before 5 p.m. Sunday. It appeared as though at least three of the vehicles involved in the crash, including the Lombard squad, were traveling south on York. An ambulance was called to the crash, but an officer at the scene said no one was transported to the hospital and there were no major injuries. Police had the southbound lanes on York closed to traffic between Harbour Terrace and St. Charles. Damage to the vehicles appeared minor.
