Home Sales Flat Year Over Year in Elmhurst for December

Elmhurst is the only DuPage town that doesn't see growth; median home prices also lower than last year.

The 28 detached, single-family homes sold in Elmhurst during December is exactly the same number of homes sold during the same period in December 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 31 homes sold in Elmhurst during November. In addition, the median price of Elmhurst homes sold in December ($367,500) was 3 percent lower than the median price of homes sold in December 2011 ($378,750). The only other DuPage towns that saw a decrease in value year over year were Downers Grove and Glen Ellyn. The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County saw growth in December, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Elmhurst Home Sales Increase as Chicago Area Hits Six-Year High

Elmhurst's real estate market got a boost in September in year-over-year comparisons, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

Home sales in the Chicago area during September were at a six-year high, according to a recent RE/MAX report—but it was a mixed bag if you were trying to sell property in DuPage County. The number of homes sold dropped in Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn and Hinsdale in September 2012 compared to September 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). Burr Ridge saw the number of homes sold fall by 37.5 percent, the greatest in the DuPage sample. However, it also had the smallest number of transactions with five homes sold in Sept. 2012 and eight homes sold in Sept. 2011. The average sale price also dropped in Burr Ridge, falling 19.8 percent year over year. The report was rosier for Elmhurst, Lisle, …
