I believe District 205 needs another proven leader on its board, and that leader is Alan J. Brinkmeier. We no longer want someone who has no experience or understanding of our community. School Board members are among the most important community positions. The decisions that they make not only effect students, but also school district employees and residents on a daily basis. I believe Alan is the best candidate for a board position because he understands all aspects of this job. When acting as a School Board member, one must start with the understanding that every student has the basic right to a great public school education and put those interests first before their own. The Elmhurst District 205 Electoral Board hearing scheduled for 4 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 11, has been canceled. The hearing originally was scheduled to hear petition challenges filed by Elmhurst resident Darlene Heslop against two School Board candidates, board President Jim Collins and newcomer Emily Bastedo. According to an announcement from the District 205 administrative office, the hearing was canceled because Heslop withdrew her objections to the nomination papers of both candidates.
