Letter: Alan Brinkmeier is the Proven Leader Needed on the District 205 School Board

Brinkmeier will apply the highest standards to achieve the best outcomes for students, the community and district employees.

I believe District 205 needs another proven leader on its board, and that leader is Alan J. Brinkmeier. We no longer want someone who has no experience or understanding of our community. School Board members are among the most important community positions. The decisions that they make not only effect students, but also school district employees and residents on a daily basis. I believe Alan is the best candidate for a board position because he understands all aspects of this job. When acting as a School Board member, one must start with the understanding that every student has the basic right to a great public school education and put those interests first before their own. District 205 Board will Look at Five-year Financial Projections Tuesday

Elmhurst District 205 School Board has a lot on its agenda Tuesday, Jan. 22. The board will first meet in closed session at 6 p.m. to discuss pending litigation, negotiations and approval of closed session minutes. Following the closed session, the board will convene in its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will begin with recognition of middle and high school students who participated in the Illinois Music Educators Association festival in November. Darlene Heslop Withdraws Her Challenge to School Board Candidates' Nominating Papers

The Elmhurst District 205 Electoral Board hearing scheduled for 4 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 11, has been canceled. The hearing originally was scheduled to hear petition challenges filed by Elmhurst resident Darlene Heslop against two School Board candidates, board President Jim Collins and newcomer Emily Bastedo. According to an announcement from the District 205 administrative office, the hearing was canceled because Heslop withdrew her objections to the nomination papers of both candidates. Yes she has the right to take action if there is merit to her claim. This was a meritless claim that the district spent thousands of dollars dealing with. If she is going to file these claims she should do all her homework first and make sure there is merit to them. She should reimburse the district for the money that was spent on this. Elmhurst Unit District 205 Board is back to school this week with a brief agenda to cover. The board's first meeting of the new year will convene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Administration Building, 162 S. York. The regular meeting will be preceded by an executive session at 6 p.m. to discuss pending litigation and student residency. The regular meeting will begin with public comments; members of the public will be invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.
