Drugs and Alcohol Lead to Multiple Arrests in Elmhurst

Suspects are arrested for DUI, fighting, drinking in a van and possession of cannabis.

Abigail Fernandez, 23, 2826 W. 21st St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis after police pulled over her gray Pontiac G6 for no seat belt at North and Myrtle at 11:38 p.m. May 16. She was released on bond. Alberto Mendoza, 40, 4720 W. Hutchinson, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his silver Mitsubishi Eclipse for no seat belt at North and Myrtle at 1:14 a.m. May 17. He was released on bond. Woman Arrested in Elmhurst for Allegedly Forging Prescription Drug Forms

Police also report arrests for domestic battery, possession of cannabis and ammunition, and unlawful use of a handicap placard this week.

Jennifer V. Mladucky, 26, 7932 W. 82nd Place, Bridgeview, was arrested on the 100 block of South Cottage Hill at 2:58 p.m. Feb. 19 after police received information about a medical assistant who was forging prescriptions. Police said they searched her car and found several items of drug paraphernalia. She was charged with two counts of forgery and taken to DuPage County Jail. Michael Harris, 46, 531 N. Van Auken, was arrested for domestic battery after an incident at his home at 9:29 p.m. Feb. 20. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, and police said they would charge him upon his release. Elmhurst Police Report Multiple Arrests for Possession of Cannabis Last Week

Jorge Orellana, 28, 1340 N. Waller St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of cannabis after police pulled over his black Ford Focus for disobeying a traffic control signal, improper lane use and failure to signal at Butterfield and York at 3:29 a.m. Dec. 6. Police said they found 2.5 grams of cannabis in the center console of the vehicle. He was released on bond. A passenger, William A. Maldonado, 18, 920 N. Trumbull, Chicago, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. More Burglaries Reported Despite Recent Arrests

Elmhurst police also report arrests for DUI, drugs, theft and disorderly conduct Oct. 19-25.

Despite two arrests for residential burglary Oct. 24, a resident of the 500 block of North Walnut came home at 5:55 p.m. Oct. 25 and found his front door ajar. He walked through the house and noticed various items thrown about the floor. His iPad, a laptop and cash was missing. The door jamb and edge of the door were damaged. A resident of Elm Creek Apartments told police a wristwatch and Tiffany diamond necklace were missing from her home. She said she hadn't worn them for awhile, but she had a cleaning service in her home in early August. Total loss is estimated at $4,200. Gail Robert, 43, 239 N. Elmhurst Police Report Drug Arrests, and Stranger Goes Out of his Way to Introduce Himself

Michael A. Ores, 23, 12730 S. Central Apt. 2W, Crestwood, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving without insurance after police pulled over his silver Hyundai Sonata for failure to signal at Route 83 and North Avenue at 8:26 p.m. Sept. 17. Ores also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was taken to DuPage County Jail. Morgan A. Jazwiec, 20, 278 W. Benjamin W. Thiel, 18, 745 S. Berkley, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, consumption of alcohol by a minor and attempted escape after police were called to a disturbance on the 500 block of West St. Charles at 10:39 p.m. July 9. Thiel and several juveniles were found with baseball bats, duct tape, rope, gloves and a metal shank. Thiel was released on I-bond. A female was released pending lab tests for drugs, and a second female was arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. Elmhurst Police Find Explosives, Body Armor, Drugs and Cache of Weapons

Elmhurst police have released details of a major drug bust last month in the home of a man who also was keeping a cache of weapons and explosives. The February arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation, and police are releasing the information now that the followup has concluded, a spokesperson from the department said. On Feb. 10, members of the police department's Community Oriented Policing Program and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 231 S. York Road in Bensenville. They found 1,722.2 grams of cannabis, 67 cannabis plants and multiple trays of psilocybin mushrooms. Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for Drugs, Alcohol and Vandalism

Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver John R. Hundley, 18, 657 W. Georgian Court, Addison, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, speeding 40-plus miles per hour over the limit, reckless driving, driving with an expired license and endangering the life and health of a child. His Lexus ES300 was stopped for going 100 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone on northbound Route 83 between North Avenue and Interstate 290 at 8:05 p.m. July 16. A passenger in his vehicle was found to be 16 years old. He was released on I-bond. DUI-Drugs Rudolph Laurendi, 52, 754 S. Mitchell, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs at 3:13 p.m. June 25. A witness reportedly saw Laurendi snort cocaine while driving in the area of York and Butterfield roads. He also was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, driving without insurance, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane use.
