Elmhurst Resident Charged with Selling Candy Laced With Cannabis

Brandon Biggs, who faces Class 2 felonies, was taken to DuPage County Jail.

An ongoing drug investigation led by the Elmhurst police has resulted in the arrest of Elmhurst resident Brandon J. Biggs, 23, of 269 W. Kimbell, according to press release issued Friday by police. Charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 2 Felony, possession of cannabis/candy with the intent to deliver, also a Class 2 Felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed Jan. 11 in DuPage County court. Biggs is suspected of selling cannabis and candy laced with cannabis to local customers in the Elmhurst area. Police executed a search warrant Jan. 10 at his home and recovered 730 grams of cannabis and 1,052.5 grams of candy laced with cannabis, along with various drug paraphernalia. Elmhurst Police Investigation Leads to Another Arrest for Heroin Thursday

This is the third arrest this month by Elmhurst police for delivery of heroin.

Elmhurst police made another arrest for delivery of a controlled substance Thursday following an ongoing narcotics investigation. Police said Robert Brown, 19, 1124 N. Lockwood, Chicago, delivered 30 bags of heroin to the Extended Stay America parking lot, 550 Grand Ave., at 10:27 a.m. Oct. 18. Brown fled when he realized police were on scene, according to a police report. He was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, and was taken to DuPage County Jail. This is the third arrest for delivery of heroin and other drugs by Elmhurst police this month. On Oct. 3, Charles J. Stainback and Ray L. Young, both of Bellwood, were arrested. Another Narcotics Bust, a Prowling Arrest and Harmonica Playing Makes Business Owners Uneasy

Incidents reported in the Elmhurst police blotter Oct. 1-3.

Police made an arrest at 8 p.m. Oct. 3 during an alleged narcotics transaction at 642 N. York Road. Charles J. Stainback, 28, 510 Hyde Park, Bellwood, and Ray L. Young, 28, 344 Morris, Bellwood, were taken into custody while they allegedly were delivering seven bags of heroin for $100, police said. Both suspects were charged with delivery of a controlled substance. Stainback also was charged with obstructing justice. They were taken to DuPage County Jail and their black Buick Regal was seized for forfeiture. (A mugshot of Young was not immediately available.) Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for DUI, Drugs, Trespassing

UPDATE May 28, 2012: In December 2011, Cole Ciangi-Bachtell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving. He was placed on court supervision for a year, and all other charges were dismissed. Drug Possession Alex J. Mika, 18, 330 S. Lombard St., Lombard, was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of alcohol by a minor after a traffic stop at 8:30 p.m. April 30 at North Avenue and Addison Street. A 30-pack of beer was found in the trunk. A passenger in the vehicle, Joseph R. Chovan, 18, 507 W. Eugenia, Lombard, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for Domestic Battery, DUI and Drugs

Eleven arrests for DUI since the first of the month.

Domestic Battery Frank W. Folliard, 19, 743 Spring Road, was arrested and charged with domestic battery at his home at 12:47 p.m. March 7. He was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A semi-automatic rifle was taken from him and is being held for safe keeping. He was later taken to DuPage County Jail. DUI Arrests Gordon G. Hoppe, 55, 517 N. Warwick Ave., Westmont, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and driving with no insurance after a traffic stop at 1:22 a.m. March 1 at Butterfield and Roosevelt roads.
