Drugs and Alcohol Lead to Multiple Arrests in Elmhurst

Suspects are arrested for DUI, fighting, drinking in a van and possession of cannabis.

Abigail Fernandez, 23, 2826 W. 21st St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis after police pulled over her gray Pontiac G6 for no seat belt at North and Myrtle at 11:38 p.m. May 16. She was released on bond. Alberto Mendoza, 40, 4720 W. Hutchinson, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his silver Mitsubishi Eclipse for no seat belt at North and Myrtle at 1:14 a.m. May 17. He was released on bond. Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for DUI, Domestic Battery and Disorderly Conduct

Stephanie Sargent, 27, 59 S. Hale St. Unit 310, Palatine, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over her red Ford Escape for driving the wrong way on a one-way street at Schiller and York at 1:48 a.m. April 27. She was released on bond. Desmond Richard, 23, 3301 W. Palmer, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his Volkswagon Jetta for improper lane use at Palmer and Schiller at 2:19 a.m. April 27. ST. CHARLES Jason A. Gatewood, 38, of the 300 block of Michigan Avenue, Aurora, was cited at 5:47 p.m. April 14 at 48 N. 12th St., with disorderly conduct. Police received a report from that address that Gatewood was intoxicated and destroying property at a neighboring home. He was issued a notice to appear in court on June 20. DOWNERS GROVE A school resource officer and the Dean of Students at Downers Grove South High School spoke to a student at about 7:40 a.m. about an iPhone theft from the day before. "(The student) advised that he placed the phone on the shelf of the locker to change, and then turned away from his locker for only a minute and when he looked back, he noticed that his phone was missing," the officer said in his report. …

DOWNERS GROVE A train ticket agent at 10:38 a.m. March 6 said that two people were involved in a loud argument lasting about five minutes that involved a 54-year-old man using vulgarity. The incident occurred at the Main Street train depot on the 1000 block of Burlington Avenue in front of numerous witnesses waiting for trains. A 78-year-old woman said she politely asked the man to quiet down and refrain from cursing as he spoke to other people. The man became angry and yelled, "You mind your own damn business and go away!" This is when the argument began. The man said he was sitting and talking to his friends when the woman yelled at him to quiet down in a disrespectful manner. Man Found Naked at the Frick Center Returns, and Four Cited for Soliciting on Berkley

Elmhurst College Security told Elmhurst police that a man who had been found naked in the bathroom of the college's Frick Center, 190 S. Prospect Ave., on March 8 had returned to the college on March 9. In the March 8 incident, campus security escorted the man off the property and told him he could never return. Police served the man with a no-trespass order and told him he would be charged if he was found on the campus again. A group of men from Chicago, Frankfort and Ingleside were charged with soliciting without a permit on the 200 block of South Berkley at 1:01 p.m. March 8. Police said the men were employed by Power Home Remodeling and were in the area attempting to give free estimates. Neighbors called police to report suspicious …

Man Arrested at Fischer School for Yelling, 'Making Reference to School Shootings'

Bensenville man facing state charges.

An incident at Conrad Fischer Elementary School, 888 Wilson St., led to an arrest and a note home to parents from Fischer Principal Jane Bailey last week. Dimas Carmona, 45, 1067 S. Addison St., Bensenville, was arrested and now faces state charges of disorderly conduct. Carmona was taken into custody at 12:11 p.m. Friday, March 8, after police said he was yelling at school staff members, using profanity and making references to school shootings around the country. A letter sent to parents Friday afternoon stated that "a disgruntled parent" was on the sidewalk adjacent to the playground, videotaping children at recess. "He was asked not to videotape, and he did discontinue," the letter states. "He was asked to leave school grounds, but …

The school and school district need to re-examine how situations at the schools are handled. BATAVIA A 20-year-old North Auroran and a 19-year-old Batavian were each issued complaints for unlawful consumption of an alcoholic liquor. An officer made the arrests at 2:12 a.m. on Feb. 21, according to a police report. Jason R. Leannah, of the first block of Grace Street, North Aurora, was speeding more than 40 mph over the limit. He posted his driver's license for bond for the speeding offense. Philip R.C. Vermaas, of the 800 block of North Forest Avenue, Batavia, was issued a notice to appear in court for failure to wear a seat belt, according to the police report. NAPERVILLE Someone on Feb. 21 received text messages from unknown numbers which read: "I SEE YOU" and "IM COMING FOR YOU," in the 1400 block of Culpepper Drive, police said. The messages were texted to the phone via Internet. Edvinas Korotkevic, 29, was arrested at 7:16 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Naperville Marriott in the 1800 block of North Naper Boulevard, police said. Korotkevic, a guest of the hotel, was allegedly drunk when he came down to the lobby and threatened to throw a smoothie in a clerk's face. Joel Garay, 45, 10467 Doris, Rosemont, was arrested and charged with battery after an incident on the 200 block of North York Road at 10:05 a.m. Feb. 15. Garay and Feliciano Nava, 45, 1030 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines, were scavenging for pallets and metal from a dumpster when the complainant told them to get away from the dumpster and not take anything, police said. Liberty St., Wheaton, was arrested and charged with loud and boisterous disturbance, use of abusive or obscene language, public intoxication and possession of open alcohol on public property after police said he refused to leave Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S.
