Police are investigating the death, but are not saying whether the body is that of Russell Winkler, who was last seen leaving Mack's Golden Pheasant around 2 a.m. Saturday.

"We've got a body behind Diplomat West ... alongside the creek," Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said at about 2:10 p.m. "We're still at the scene; we've notified the coroner. You'll have to travel outside the city limits for fireworks, but tons of July 4 celebrations will be held a stone's throw away.
It's been many years since Elmhurst has had a fireworks display or parade within the city limits on the Fourth of July, but another Elmhurst tradition continues. Beginning at 7:15 a.m. on July 4, Elmhurst Running Club, in partnership with Community Bank of Elmhurst, will present the eighth annual 4 on the 4th 4-mile run. The race begins just south of Elmhurst College's main gate at 190 S. Prospect Ave. Race Day registration is $30, or sign up in advance for $25. Afterward, Elmhurst will continue its partnership with Bensenville to offer Libertyfest at Redmond Park. The Bensenville Police Department notified Elmhurst police Tuesday that an armed suspect had confined himself inside a home on the 200 block of South Mason Street, about 1 1/2 miles north of Grand Avenue and York Road. The Daily Herald reported the gunman, 36-year-old Jose Bailon, was alone in the house and fired six or seven rounds at about 10:45 a.m. before barricading himself in an upstairs bedroom. The DuPage County SWAT team was called to secure the area, and there was increased police presence around Conrad Fischer Elementary School and Churchville Middle School in Elmhurst, police said. Carnival, fireworks and perfect weather; let's do it all again!
It's the final day of Libertyfest, an event sponsored by Elmhurst, Bensenville, Addison and Wood Dale, and there's still a lot of fun to be had at Redmond Park, 735 E. Jefferson St. in Bensenville. Today's activities continue with the carnival from 2 to 10 p.m.; the bands He Said She Said from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 7th Heaven from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.; and another big fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. A free shuttle service will operate from 2 to 8 p.m., approximately every 30 minutes. According to weather.com, there is no chance of rain today and the temperature will be a perfect 83 degrees. Happy birthday, America!
