Police Say Elmhurst Woman Drove Drunk With Her 9-year-old in the Car

Also, woman attacked while working out, teens without a license go wrong way on one-way street, and five arrested on warrants.

Lisa Lofendo, 43, 268 Niagara, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life of a child and illegal transportation of alcohol after she was stopped at 11:13 p.m. Jan. 15. Police said the arrest followed a domestic disturbance on the 400 block of North Walnut. She reportedly admitted to drinking "before and while driving her 9-year-old son," according to the police report. She was released on bond. Nicole M. Calabria, 33, 918 Norwood, Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with battery at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 after she allegedly approached a woman who was working out at X-Sport Fitness, 633 W. Clerk Poked in the Eye, Soda Spiked with Sanitizer, Park Employee Threatened

Elmhurst police report incidents of anger taken too far.

A customer at the Mobil Gas station, 1000 N. York Road, became upset after an employee asked him if he wanted the blue or green pack of cigarettes at 8:41 p.m. Nov. 9. The offender started swearing at the employee and poked him in the eye after the employee took the cigarettes back. The employee pressed the lock button under the counter, but the offender eventually got out, police said. The offender is a regular at the station. Surveillance video shows the incident. Police are investigating an incident involving a former employee of Burger King, 620 W. North Ave., that occurred at 7:45 p.m. Nov. 3. The employee was upset that a manager told her to clean the dishes, so she reportedly put a chemical dish sanitizer in the manager's soft drink…

Recent Arrests in Elmhurst Include Battery at the Library, Prowling on Fay Avenue and More

Fifty-three-year-old Elmhurst man arrested twice on Richard between Oct. 15 and 17, first for battery and then for vandalism.

Ron a. Menard, 25, 705 Liberty, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with battery at the Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., at 4:31 p.m. Oct. 13. He was released on I-bond. Allen Schroeder, 53, who police say was staying on the 100 block of Richard, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery after he reportedly kicked a paramedic, who was taking him to the hospital for treatment for intoxication, in the chest at 9:21 p.m. Oct. 15. Schroeder was arrested again at that address at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and charged with vandalism after he allegedly tore a screen door with a screwdriver. He was released to a friend on I-bond. Caregiver Tries to Bilk Alzheimer's Patient Out of Thousands of Dollars, Victim Says

A caregiver who was recently hired to care for a man with alzheimer's disease is accused of trying to bilk the family out of thousands of dollars between May 1 and Oct. 9. The victim's daughter said in addition to paying the company from which the caregiver was hired, she was asked by the caregiver to withdraw hundreds of dollars from two bank accounts twice a week and give the money directly to her. The amount reportedly increased over time, from $500 to $2,000. The caregiver said the money was needed for shampoo and grooming items for the victim's father. The victim also accuses the caregiver of grabbing her arm after she became suspicious and attempted to report the scam. An investigation is pending. A fight broke out at the scrap metal…

Gonzalo Mendoza, 19, 443 N. Lake Shore Drive, Mundelein, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without insurance after his black GMC Jimmy hit a tree at Richard and East Court at 12:58 a.m. Oct. 5. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and released on bond. Valeria Hernandez, 25, 218 Julia, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over a white Volkswagon for disobeying a traffic control signal at York and First at 12:13 a.m. Oct. 6. Walter Alonzo, 19, 118 Bridget Apt. GB, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after his green Ford Windstar allegedly crashed into a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old Naperville man at 956 N. York at 9:56 p.m. Sept. 21. Alonzo fled the scene, police said. He also was charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance, leaving the scene of an accident and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was released on I-bond. Woman Tells Police She Was Drugged, Assaulted Friday Night

Police say victim ended up on a bus in Melrose Park.

A woman told police she may have been drugged Friday night while partying with some co-workers at Arena, 630 W. Lake St. According to an Elmhurst police report, the woman said she began the evening at Arena at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. She said she had two shots of tequila and two beers, and she left her drink at the table several times to go to the bathroom. She left Arena, and the next thing she remembered was waking up on a party bus and realizing she had thrown up, the police report said. She felt someone grabbing her, and she felt as if her pants were being pulled off but she was unable to stop it and did not know who was doing it, police said. A man who was traveling westbound on Crestview at York told police he was struck in the mouth by a bottle thrown from a black, newer model SUV at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 15. He refused medical treatment. D, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with domestic battery, attempted obstruction of justice and child endangerment after police were called to a domestic disturbance at her home at 7:24 a.m. Aug. 4. Jaras claimed she had been stabbed by her husband, but she later admitted she had stabbed herself in the leg, police said. Suspicious Circumstances A woman told police she was celebrating her 21st birthday at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison, when she met a man who tried to get her to leave with him several times between 11 p.m. April 12 and 1 a.m. April 13. At last call, the man offered to buy her a beer. She accepted and followed him to the bar. She and her friend quickly finished the beer because the bar was closing. She walked outside and said she blacked out and does not remember anything that happened after leaving the bar. She was sick for two days and assumed it was from drinking, until her friend who shared the beer told her she also had blacked out and had the same symptoms.
