A message York High School parents received on Wednesday reveals the names of the two retired athletic directors who will temporarily take the place of John Rutter, who has resigned. Both are veterans in the field. Mike Morris is Lyons Township High School's former A.D., and Washington Bush retired from James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates. They will share the York AD responsibilities. The board of Oswego High School District 308 hired former Immaculate Conception High School athletic director and basketball coach Darren Howard as its new athletic director Monday. In a statement released by District 308, Howard, 47, said he is "honored and humbled " to be named to the position. “I look forward to working with the students and staff at OHS to add to the tremendous tradition of this excellent high school," he said. Howard, who served as athletic director at ICHS since June 2003, was also the school's head varsity basketball coach since 2000, leading his team to five consecutive regional titles, including two regional championships. Immaculate Conception High School is welcoming Tom Schergen as its new athletic director. Schergen, who most recently served as a special education program director and head boys varsity soccer coach at Mount Carmel High School, also was athletic director for Marist High School in Chicago from 2007 to 2011.
