OMG PD: Egg Roulette, Moving Mini-Monolith, Mailbox Never Had a Chance

A round-up of recent and bizarre police report items from the area.

You know those monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people from rock on the Chilean Polynesian island of Easter Island between the years 1250 and 1500? Yeah, those things. Well, a 4-foot-tall one was taken from the front of a Geneva home recently. We are not making this up. Someone stole the “Easter Island Head” sculpture from the front yard of a residence in the 2200 block of Pepper Valley Drive sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. Nov. 17, Geneva police reports said. The 4-foot cement statue had an estimated value of $100. Someone threw several eggs at a vehicle while it was parked unattended in the roadway in front of a residence in the 1100 block of Cheever Avenue around 9:55 p.m. Nov. 20, reports said. OMG PD: Criminal Halitosis, Catfight for the Ages, Buy a Hybrid

A round-up of some of the more bizarre and interesting police blotter items from around the area recently.

Two Batavia women born four decades apart had a fight in the parking lot of a downtown restaurant on Aug. 31, according to police reports. A 70-year-old and a 28-year-old became involved in a verbal dispute, which quickly escalated. Police said that after the 70-year-old was cut off at the drive-thru lane at 12:04 p.m. the dispute turned physical. The 70-year-old grabbed the 28-year-old, and then the younger woman struck the older woman in the neck. The women were taken to the police department to file a report. A total of $20 that fell from the younger woman's purse was returned to her. An injury report was completed on the older woman, who refused medical attention. No complaints were signed in the incident. A man could face criminal …

Elmhurst Police Identify Three Burglary Suspects After Working with Nearby Departments

Burglaries in Melrose Park and Westchester lead Elmhurst police to persons of interest.

The following information was provided by the Elmhurst Police Department: Police announced at the Elmhurst City Council meeting Monday that by working in cooperation with nearby police departments, they have apprehended three people suspected of burglarizing Elmhurst homes. Because of the rash of burglaries in town, Elmhurst police set up a surveillance operation in Melrose Park, according to a statement released Tuesday by Interim Police Chief Dominic Panico. On March 14, they witnessed Sergio J. Toutges, 40, of Addison repeatedly knock on the door of a home on the 800 block of Elise in Melrose Park, then enter the home by force. Jennifer L. Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for DUI, Hit and Run, and Outstanding Warrants

The following arrest information was supplied by the Elmhurst Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI Arrests Ariane P. Scolaro, 26, 836 S. Chatham, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over her silver Hyundai for speeding at 1:10 a.m. Oct. 28 near her home. She was released on I-bond. Joanne N. Schivarelli, 61, 1700 Riverwoods Drive Apt. 419, Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her silver Nissan Altima for disobeying a red light at North Avenue and Route 83 at 11:39 p.m. Oct. 29. Elmhurst Police Report Two Men Arrested For Possession of Heroin

Cannabis, alcohol, domestic battery and disorderly conduct arrests also reported.

Driving Under the Influence of Heroin Randy Roewer, 30, 1821 Butterfield, Woodstock, and Joseph Gargano, 32, 1284 S. Ashley, Vernon Hills, were arrested for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled their vehicle over for speeding at Interstate 290 and Route 83 at 3:40 p.m. Oct. 10. Roewer, the driver, also was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Passenger Gargano allegedly had an open needle with suspect heroin residue on his lap. Police located four baggies of suspect heroin, a cooker and needles in the gas tank. They also discovered Gargano had a warrant for DUI out of Cook County. Both men were taken to DuPage County Jail. Elmhurst Police Report Drug and Alcohol Arrests

Possession of a Controlled Substance William L. Horton, 39, 17931 Fair Oaks Drive, Country Club Hills, and Julia K. Trippiedi, 30, of the same address, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police saw a white Ford Explorer driven by Horton pull into a parking lot at 956 N. York Road at 10:50 p.m. Sept. 29. Police said an unknown female approached the passenger side of the vehicle and handed an item to Trippiedi. When police confronted them, they discovered Horton and Trippiedi were in possession of heroin capsules. They were taken to DuPage County Jail. Elmhurst Police Arrest Drivers for License Violations

Charges include driving on suspended and revoked licenses, or driving without a license.

Driving With a Revoked License Sean F. Langille, 42, 559 W. Montrose, was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license after police pulled over his green Mercury Mountaineer for an improper turn at 1:08 a.m. Sept. 18 at 121 N. Addison. Police said his license was revoked for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released on bond and the vehicle towed for forfeiture. Everett Kin, 28, 221 E. State's Attorney Says He's Pleased with Results of No-refusal DUI Initiative

Ninety percent took breathalyzer test; five of the six who were forced into blood tests were repeat DUI offenders.

A total of six search warrants were issued over the Labor Day weekend for arrestees who refused to take a breathalyzer as part of DuPage County's "no-refusal" DUI campaign. Police in DuPage were issued search warrants for suspected drunken drivers who refused the breath test, and each arrestee was given a mandatory blood tests to determine blood-alcohol content. According to the DuPage State's Attorney's Office, of the six arrestees, one was a first-time suspected DUI offender. Three were three-time offenders, and two of them had three DUI arrests in 2011, alone. Three of the arrestees also had suspended or revoked licenses for a prior DUI arrest. In one case, a warrant was issued for an arrestee who had been arrested five times for DUI. …

Elmhurst Police Report Multiple DUI Arrests After the Holiday Weekend

At least one arrest reportedly involved DuPage County's No Refusal initiative.

Aggravated DUI Robert Moreno, 44, 2032 N. 18th Ave., Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his white Ford Crown Victoria at 12:45 a.m. Sept. 4 at North Avenue and Berteau. He was taken to DuPage County Jail, where a search warrant for a blood sample was obtained as part of DuPage County's no refusal initiative. He was charged with aggravated DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and improper lane use. His vehicle was towed for forfeiture. DUI Arrests Eliott B. Woman Without a License Reportedly Collides with Semi

Police report drivers with suspended and revoked licenses on the roads.

Driving Without  License Maria Abelar, 43, 625 S. Yale Ave., Addison, was cited for driving without a license after her vehicle was involved in a crash with a semi at 5:46 p.m. Aug. 23 at Route 83 and North Avenue. Abelar also was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Driving with a Revoked License Anthony Jones, 30, 109 Pennsylvania, Loves Park, was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license at 4:27 a.m. Aug. 20 after police pulled over his gold Chevy Impala for disobeying a stop light at Route 83 and North Avenue.
