Parent Arrested at Conrad Fischer Earlier This Month Tells His Side of the Story

"I'm not a pedophile. I have a kid in the school being abused and nobody's willing to listen," said Dimas Carmona, a father who was arrested after filming his son on the Conrad Fisher School playground earlier this month.

When Dimas Carmona filmed his son on the playground at Conrad Fischer School after lunch on March 8, he had no idea he would be arrested at his ex-wife's home later that day. "I'm working on my ex-wife's bathroom, doing remodeling, and the police came and put the handcuffs on me," said Carmona, a 45-year-old truck driver. "They put in the police report that I was videotaping kids, like a pedophile," he said. "I'm not a pedophile. I have a kid in the school being abused and nobody's willing to listen." The report also said Carmona used profanity and made "references to school shootings." Police Nab Pair Suspected in Several Elmhurst Burglaries

Police from multiple agencies worked together to track the suspects.

An ongoing investigation by police from multiple jurisdictions has led to the arrest of two people suspected in a recent series of burglaries on the north side of Elmhurst. Elmhurst detectives, along with investigators from six other agencies, followed the suspects for several days. At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, they witnessed the two burglarize a home in Itasca, newly hired Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said. The offenders were taken into custody at the scene, and they were in possession of stolen property, he said. Arrested and charged with residential burglary were Jeffrey Roman, 24, and Jessica Jakaitis, 26, both of Addison. Elmhurst Man Arrested for Breaking Into Multiple Vehicles Wednesday

Police say Derek K. Kaufman broke into vehicles in his own apartment complex.

An Elmhurst resident police say is on parole was arrested early Wednesday morning after he reportedly broke into multiple vehicles parked in and around his own apartment complex. Witnesses saw Derek K. Kaufman, 19, 329 W. Kimbell Ave. Apt. 6, behaving suspiciously and looking into vehicles at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday. Police located Kaufman, who reportedly admitted entering the vehicles. Police listed the addresses of the thefts at 329 W. Kimbell, 341 W. Kimbell, 322 W. Kimbell  and 315 W. Kimbell. Items stolen include two iPods, a drivers license, debit cards and membership cards. Kaufman was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and taken to DuPage County Jail. Bottle With Gasoline and Wick Found in a Driveway

Suspicious Circumstances A broken and burned beer bottle with a cloth, the remains of a wick and the odor of gasoline was found behind a vehicle in a driveway on the 600 block of South Fairview. The resident told police it was left there between 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and 8:13 a.m. Oct. 3. Drug Possession Kyle J. Tuley, 20, Martin R. Krafcky, 20, and Steven Krafcky, 18, all of 809 S. Chatham St., Elmhurst, and Zachary T. Wagner, 19, 173 N. Hampshire, Elmhurst, were taken into custody after police pulled over their white Chevrolet Cavalier at Extended Stay America, 556 S. Police Nab Alleged Bike Thief, Uncover Fencing Operation

If your bike was stolen, police may be able to get it back to you.

Elmhurst police have arrested Joseph Samaritano, 31, of 646 S. State St., Chicago, in connection with a rash of bicycle thefts in the downtown area, particularly at the Metra station. At noon Aug. 22, officers were performing surveillance at the train station, 128 W. First St., when they reportedly saw Samaritano cut the lock off of a bike and take it. Information provided by him led police to a warehouse in Chicago, where 21 bicycles, many believed to have been stolen from Elmhurst and Villa Park, were recovered. Also found at the warehouse were numerous car stereos, amplifiers and speakers. All of the thefts are part of a fencing operation in Chicago, police said. Cemetery Crimes "Despicable"; Police and Cemetery Staff are Working to Return Vases to Families

Police want to return all the bronze vases that were stolen, but victims aren't likely to get back the vase they purchased.

For several months, many family members of those buried in Mt. Emblem and Elm Lawn cemeteries have been dealing with the heartache and frustration of bronze vases being stolen from their loved ones' headstones. Now that an arrest has been made in the case, and more than $100,000 worth of bronze vases has been recovered, those families have an opportunity to get a vase back. But chances are, the vase they receive will not be the exact one they purchased. "It's virtually impossible" for them to get their original vase back, said John Isaacson, general manager of Mt. Elmhurst Police Report Prostitution Arrest at the Waverton Hotel Thursday

Woman allegedly was keeping a place of prostitution at the Waverton.

Justine R. Campton, 20, 17815 SE Marie St., Portland, Or., was arrested and charged with prostitution and keeping a place of prostitution after an incident at the Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York Road. Elmhurst police answered an ad on Backpage.com for prostitution. Campton allegedly agreed to meet the officer at the Waverton at 8 p.m. July 28 and requested payment of $180. She allegedly exposed her private areas to the officer and requested money for their time together. She was taken into custody and released shortly after on an I-bond. Theft Arrest Antonia Bauza, 30, 108 Edgewood, Streamwood, was arrested and charged under city ordinance with theft after she allegedly took between $60 and $100 from a garage sale on the 600 block of Lorraine at 1:37 p.m. June 17. She was released on I-bond. Police stopped the vehicle she was in, which was driven by Delatorre Cruz, 40, of the same address.  Cruz was charged under city ordinance with driving without a license and released on bond. Theft Arrests David Mason, 21, 14316 S. Dearborn, Riverdale, was arrested and charged with theft after an incident on the 200 block of Winthrop at 6 p.m. May 14. A resident told police four solicitors came to her home trying to sell her a subscription to the Chicago Tribune. After they left, she noticed her iPod Touch was missing. When police located the men, Mason was in possession of the iPod. Police also discovered that Mason, along with Cortez F. Tate, 19, 8810 S. Elizabeth, Chicago; Corey L. Tate, 19, 8810 S. Elmhurst Police Report Burglary, Theft

Residential Burglary Police discovered at 12:32 p.m. April 27 that someone had broken into a home on the 600 block of West Crockett. The rear sliding glass door had been pried open, and a total of $3,720 in items were taken. Someone reportedly attempted to break into a home on St. Regis Court at 1:19 a.m. April 28. The resident told police that she was awakened by the sound of her wind chimes, which hang on the door knob, hitting against the door. She went downstairs to check the front door and noticed the door knob was loose and their was a cut in the screen door. Police didn’t find any footprints or fingerprints. Damage is estimated at $50.
