Elmhurst Officer Rick Moulis Earns Honor for Bravery

Alderman also approve new refuse contract, among other business Tuesday.

Here's a look at some of the business conducted at Elmhurst's City Council meeting Tuesday: Officer Earns Medal of Valor Elmhurst Police Officer Rick Moulis was awarded the Medal of Valor from the Elmhurst Police Department Tuesday night. Police Chief Michael Ruth presented the medal to Moulis for his response to a domestic situation at an Elmhurst home on Oct. 5 last year. Moulis saw that a man inside the home was threatening three women with a knife, and was able to taser and disarm him. New Trash Rates Take Effect April 1 City Council members approved a new five-year contract with Allied Waste for refuse and recycling services. The new contract will only offer garbage toters with wheels in either a 65-gallon or 95-gallon size, but most …

Approval of Refuse Contract and Work at 135 Addison on City Agenda Monday

Meeting will be preceded by a hearing of the Elmhurst Electoral Board.

Elmhurst City Council is back at work Monday, Jan. 7, after the holiday break with an agenda that includes a review of the five-year capital expense budget, an agreement with Addison Corridor Development LLC for utility work on a retail/parking structure downtown, approval of a refuse contract with Allied Waste and more. The city's Electoral Board will hold a hearing immediately preceding the regular City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Elmhurst resident Darlene Heslop has filed an objection against the nominating petitions of Alderman Pat Wagner, the incumbent candidate running to retain his 7th Ward seat in the April 9 Consolidated Election.
