A former student at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard, has been charged with one count of disorderly conduct, a Class 4 Felony, for allegedly planning to commit an act of violence at the school. Michael Santoro, 19, of 616 South Finley Road, Lombard, appeared in bond court Wednesday morning, where Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bond at $500,000. Santoro allegedly made plans of a violent nature against the school last November. The alleged plans remained unknown until February, when Santoro revealed them to an acquaintance, who did not report the threat to police until two weeks ago, according to the complaint. A Franklin Park man has been charged with unlawful videotaping, a Class 4 Felony, for allegedly videotaping women while they used a washroom at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Salvador Perez, 49, of 2538 Sonia Ave., appeared in Bond Court Saturday morning, where Judge Michael Wolfe set his bond at $150,000. It is alleged that on Friday, May 17, Perez positioned his cellular phone under the sink of a unisex bathroom at the hospital. He allegedly positioned it so the camera on the phone would record the toilet area. He then activated the video record function and exited the bathroom, according to the complaint. A former Concordia University baseball player claims he was forced to perform sex acts on his coach in exchange for the promise of connections with major league scouts, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. Anthony Collaro, who pitched for the Cougars from 2008-2011, alleges in the complaint that former Coach Spiro Lempesis videotaped between 20-30 sexual encounters. Concordia fired Lempesis in September 2010 over allegations of sexual misconduct. The university announced in October 2012 that it would conduct an independent investigation into the claims. Dillard said Friday he's pushing for state regulations that would help police investigate residential burglaries in the Chicago suburbs that involve jewelry theft.
The Hinsdale home of state Sen. Kirk Dillard, whose 24th District includes Elmhurst, is among those that have been burglarized this spring and the senator says he's pushing for state legislation that will help local law enforcement investigate such burglaries. A 30-year-old Elmhurst woman has been charged with engaging in a scheme to defraud the Medicare program. Ellyse Lamon is among seven defendants in the Chicago area charged in separate instances of healthcare fraud, federal law enforcement officials announced Tuesday. Lamon, an account executive at a company that sells durable medical equipment, was charged in U.S. District Court with one count of healthcare fraud for allegedly engaging in a $350,000 Medicare false billing scheme. Lamon's company sold equipment such as back braces and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation units, also known as tens units.
