Kristen Elkins Kristen Elkins (nee Jacobsen), 45, formerly of Elmhurst, died on May 17. Mrs. Elkins is survived by her husband, David; her daughters, Lanie and Mikayla; and her parents, Carol and Don Jacobsen. She grew up in Elmhurst, attended the University of Illinois and raised her family in Schaumburg and Elmhurst. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Obituary: David Sterner Burnside, Longtime Member of Elmhurst Artists' Guild

A celebration of his life will be held June 20 in Elmhurst.

David Sterner Burnside, 80, of Elmhurst, passed away March 15. He was born in Narberth, Penn., to Wayne and Catherine (Neamand) Burnside. A graduate of the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, now the University of the Arts, Mr. Burnside was a prolific, self-employed artist. His career began in illustration and branched into large-scale murals, as well as custom installations for banks, restaurants and libraries across the country. His favorite medium was watercolor. He was a member of the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild for many years. Over the decades, his art received notice at various art shows and contests in the Chicago and Philadelphia areas. Margaret C. Leveille, 87, longtime resident of Elmhurst, has died. She was a former volunteer at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for more than 15 years, and an election judge for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy. She is survived by her husband, George, six children, 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. H. William Diener, 95, a longtime Elmhurst resident, has died. Mr. Diener was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the North African and Italian campaigns, a former chaplain for Elmhurst VFW and a member of the American Legion THB 187. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lillian, and his son, William Diener III. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Diener, Julie (Jeff) Ernst and Diane (Murray) Freeman; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Kroeger was a devoted homemaker for many years, and she also worked for several Elmhurst medical practices before retiring in 1986. She is survived by her five children and six grandchildren. Wallace P. "Wally" Martina, 75, formerly of Elmhurst, passed away Thursday, May 9, at his home in Newburgh, Ind. He was born January 28, 1938, in Isabella, Penn., to Joseph and Rose Angelina (Bozek) Martina. Wally was a wonderful husband, father, and Papoo, who loved his family and enjoyed life. He was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Theresa Jones, in 2008.
