It's the Weekend, and There's Plenty to Do; Here's a Sampling

We've singled out a few weekend events happening in Elmhurst this weekend: Meet some old friends, check out an art show or raise money for a good cause.

Bark for Life, at Eldridge Park, is the American Cancer Society's noncompetitive 1/3-mile walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer Saturday, Sept. 14.

York Class of the 70s Group will hold its “So What’s New?” group reception, open to all York graduates of that decade. The get-together will take place at Fitz’s Spare Keys, 119 N. York, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. The cost is $20 per person. A friends and family reunion and District 205 Foundation fundraiser for ALL York classes will follow from 8 PM to 1 AM. The $15 fee includes food, bowling, pool and live music. For further information, contact Jay Webb at 630-202-0726.

The Talkie Trot 5k Run/Walk (formerly Brianna & Friends Walk to Talk), featuring a 1 Mile Kids Dash for grades K-8 will be held Sunday Sept, 15, at York and South streets. Special guests include US Olympic Track Coach Joe Newton & the Jesse White Tumblers. All proceeds raised benefit The Center for Speech & Language Disorders, to help families deal with conditions like autism that effect language and one's ability to communicate and lead a full independent life.
