Fulla Bologna Deli opens, dozens of businesses participate in Arte at Nite, York's edgy play hits the stage and football playoffs begin for IC Catholic.

Friday, Nov. 1

Fulla Bologna, the brand new deli, opens at 6 a.m. at South York and West Adelaide streets, across from The Snuggery.

Arte at Nite: Food For Life Fund-raiser. Elmhurst businesses will donate 10 percent of sales to United Community Concerns Association, which has provided food to local residents for 35 years. The list of participating Elmhurst businesses is long, and includes Donna Pope Gallery, 195 S. York, Second Floor, which also is featuring an exhibition, Food and Wine. Eighth-grade art students from Sandburg Middle School also will sell for $5 their ceramic mini mugs at Elijah's.

Bella Luna Salon is celebrating its sixth anniversary by holding Food 4 Families Food Drive benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Donate 3 or more items and receive a $10 gift certificate towards services on your next visit.

York High School's "She Kills Monsters," 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, at York. The dramatic comedy takes the audience into the world of fantasy role-playing games and features giant puppets and masks from Chicago's Buzz22 and an intricate shadow piece designed by nationally renowned Manual Cinema. Acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen's story appeals to the geek and the hero within us all. She Kills Monsters deals with the personal struggles that high school students face every day. It is also filled with monsters. Not recommended for children under 12.

Sleep Out SaturdayMore than 1,500 teens, children and adults will spend the night sleeping outside in tents, boxes, or cars to raise awareness about family homelessness and funds for Bridge Communities' Transitional Housing Program. Elmhurst groups participating include Elmhurst First United Methodist Church, IC Catholic Prep and St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
