The focus is on Elmhurst Unit District 205 this week, as School Board members welcome parents and all residents to a Community Conversation with the Board on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The two-way discussion with School Board members (administrators will not be present) will begin with a presentation on the major financial challenges faced by District 205, as well as the changing needs of students in the district. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
Come and share your thoughts and ideas. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the district's administration offices, 162 S. York.
Also this week, the community is invited to honor, welcome and congratulate York High School's first class of Dukes of Distinction.
Three medical doctors, a journalist, athletic director, musician, sociologist and astronomer will be coming from far and wide to be honored at York High School's Commons at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. They will speak about their memories of York and the influence the school had on their future success. They also will stick around to talk to students on Friday.
It's free, so stop by and welcome them back to their alma mater.
