New Villa Park Dialysis Facility Provides Greater Access to Lifesaving Care

U.S. Renal Care offers treatment for patients suffering from kidney disease

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, local healthcare advocates, hospital leaders, village officials, patients and physicians gathered at U.S. Renal Care’s Villa Park facility to cut the ribbon on a new dialysis center located at 200 East North Avenue in Villa Park.  This state-of-the-art, 13-station facility represents greater access to lifesaving care for area patients and is the only dialysis provider in Villa Park.

“My family and I are relieved that I have somewhere convenient and close-to-home to receive treatment at the hands of such caring doctors and staff,” said Villa Park resident Phil Coleman. “The opening of this facility means much shorter drive times for a lot of us, which not only gives us more time to spend with family, but also means less time on icy roads in the winter.  It’s a huge weight off the shoulders of patients and their caretakers.”

Along with a convenient location, patients will have access to an entire team of dedicated   professionals including dieticians, social workers and nurses who will provide patients and their families with the support and resources they need to stay on a healthy path during treatment. The new center comes equipped with massage chairs, personal TVs at each station, calming wall colors and beautiful art to ensure a relaxing experience and healing environment.

“Quality treatment and compassionate care are U.S. Renal Care’s first priority when it comes to our patients,” said Dr. Michael Cohan, a nephrologist who will serve as the facility’s Medical Director. “In choosing this location and our dedicated care team, we made sure to put patients’ needs first regarding access, convenience and the support they need to maintain their best health.”

The new facility will help meet the increased need for dialysis services in the area. The need for such services has grown across the board, due in part to an aging population who often experience an increase in kidney-related diseases.  Prevalence of diabetes, the leading cause of kidney failure, has increased dramatically both regionally and nationally. The National Institute of Health estimates that more than 1 in 10 Americans over the age of 20 suffers from diabetes.  And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention projects that the prevalence of diagnosed diabetes in the United States will increase 165 percent by 2050.
