THE VIEW FROM 101 YORK – NOVEMBER 2013

LW Reedy has been serving the Elmhurst community and surrounding areas since 1951. As the largest locally-owned real estate agency in Elmhurst, we have a passion for local news and events. Here’s our view of the community for this month, from our perch at 101 York in the heart of downtown Elmhurst.


8 Fun Activities for November

 1 – Get your holiday shopping started early and support local artists at the Wilder Mansion Holiday Market on Sat, Nov 9 from 10am to 4pm. You’ll see one-of-a-kind arts and crafts, jewelry, handbags, children’s clothing, gourmet food, and more special and unique gifts. For a fun preview, visit the mansion on Fri, Nov 8 from 4 to 9pm. Entry for the preview is $20 with proceeds benefitingUnited Community Concerns. Includes wine and appetizers by Café Amano. Free entry on Saturday.

2 – Elmhurst College invites the community to rock out with Gloriana with Casey James on Sun, Nov 17, 2013 at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. $25 general admission. Faganel Hall at Elmhurst College.

3 – Learn more about the issues facing Illinois at Elmhurst College’s series Fixing Illinois: A Great State’s Problems and Promise.

4 – Morton Arboretum presents Illumination, an interactive light experience. Opens Nov 22. 4:30 to 8:30pm. See your face appears in grove of trees. Touch or sing to a tree and it responds with color. Don’t miss the Enchanted Railroad opening Nov 21.

5 – Visit the Community Tree Trim Sat and Sun, Nov 23 and 24 10 to 4:30 at Brookfield Zoo. To sponsor a tree for your community group, contact the zoo.

6 – LW Reedy  proudly sponsors this year’s Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot taking place Thanksgiving Day (Thurs, Nov 28) at 9am. Sign up today! To prepare, run or walk 2 to 4 miles with the Pints Pacers Pub Runs every Monday night 6:30pm.  Worried it could be cold for the Trot this year? Learn what you need to stay warm on your run at Fleet Feet’s Cold Weather Gear Clinic Sat, Nov 9 at 9am.

7 – Once you’re stuffed with turkey and ready to start thinking Christmas, visit the Elmhurst Art Museum Open House on Sat, Nov 30 from 10am to 4pm. Craft workshops and gift sale. Kids under 12 free. The evening of Nov 30th, head to Police Plaza for the City Center tree lighting and more holiday fun.

8 – Mark your calendars for Dec 5 at 6pm to start the holiday season off right with the Wilder Park Tree Lighting. See Santa and live reindeer and enjoy entertainment, including  the Radio Disney Chicago Road Crew. Create holiday treats in Wilder Mansion with Marianno’s.  Contact the Elmhurst Park District to display a tree ($45 fee).
