Kiwanis Luncheon Speakers: Mayoral Candidate Diane Gutenkauf

The Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst wrapped up the Mayoral Candidate Speaking Series on Tuesday, when 1st Ward Alderman and Candidate for Mayor of Elmhurst Diane Gutenkauf visited and spoke to the club.

A “sold out” room of club members and guests had the opportunity to meet Diane  and listened to her speak and take questions for about forty minutes.

Diane shared with the club that “As Mayor, I will be your voice. No more wasting tax dollars on projects that benefit a few Elmhurst insiders.  No more land giveaways and no-bid contracts at the expense of us, the taxpayers.  I will promote government transparency and accountability so you know City Hall is looking out for you.”

She answered questions from the club about long term strategic planning for the city, keeping gambling out of Elmhurst, the Hahn Street development and the pros and cons of Condo versus luxury rental apartment developments downtown.

The Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst is very appreciative of all the candidates for taking the time to visit and speak to our club.  We would also like give a vociferous thank you to each of the candidates for the years of civic service they have given.

The next Kiwanis Luncheon Speakers topic will be “Keeping Children Safe in School” featuring Dr. Ray Lauk Superintendent of Cook County District 130 and former Education Solutions Manager at GE Security, which focused on keeping schools and secure using advanced technology and expert analysis.  

The luncheon meeting will be at noon on Tuesday April 9th.

The Kiwanis Club does welcome guests to attend our regular luncheon meeting and speaking events, but we do ask that you contact us ahead of time.  Regular meetings (with speakers)  are held at noon on the first, second and fourth Tuesday each month.  Meetings are held at Francesca’s Amici, 174 N. York.
