Your Guide to Fourth of July 2013 Activities In and Around Elmhurst

You'll have to travel outside the city limits for fireworks, but tons of July 4 celebrations will be held a stone's throw away.

It's been many years since Elmhurst has had a fireworks display or parade within the city limits on the Fourth of July, but another Elmhurst tradition continues.

Beginning at 7:15 a.m. on July 4, Elmhurst Running Club, in partnership with Community Bank of Elmhurst, will present the eighth annual 4 on the 4th 4-mile run. The race begins on Prospect Avenue near Church Street. Race Day registration is $30, or sign up in advance for $25.

Afterward, Elmhurst will continue its partnership with Bensenville to offer Libertyfest at Redmond Park. And, for those willing to travel to other neighboring towns, there are plenty of holiday events to attend.
