Severe Thunderstorm Watch Upgraded to a Warning

Severe storm warning encompasses DuPage County and much of north central Illinois on a day marked by high temperatures and a heat index expected to top 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:45 p.m. for DuPage County and other parts of north central Illinois. Hail and 70-mile-per-hour winds have been reported.

Hot and humid conditions are expected to continue throughout the afternoon.

Temperatures have risen to near or above 90 degrees this afternoon across the area, with a dewpoint at 70 degrees and a heat index expected to peak at between 100 and 105 degrees.
