Hot Enough For You?

Elmhurst pools were in full splash Thursday, July 18, with outside temperatures topping 95 degrees. (Don't even think about the heat index.)

Norman Smalley Pool, at 655 S. York, is one welcome respite, with families taking full advantage of the big slide, diving board, sprayground and umbrella soaker.

The pool is open until 8 p.m. daily, so there is plenty of time to cool off. East End Pool, for you north-siders, is open until 9.

Daily fee at both pools for residents without a pool pass is $6 for kids ages 3-15, $7 for adults and $5 for seniors. Or, purchase a 10-swim punch card for $45.

The heat wave continues on Friday, with temperatures again expected to reach the mid-90s. A thunderstorm could cool things down late in the afternoon. Expect lots of sun on Saturday, with a high of 83.
