Local Senior Wins Conroy's Senior Spelling Bee: Advances to Regional Competition

VILLA PARK, Ill. – State Rep. Deb Conroy is announcing the winner of her Senior Spelling Bee, Villa Park resident, Kathy Gilroy. Kathleen Mothes of Villa Park, placed second in the competition.

“I would like to thank everyone that attended the Spelling Bee and congratulate Kathy and Kathleen on their achievements,” Conroy said. “I look forward to continuing to host this fun event for seniors in the future and wish Kathy and Kathleen the best of luck as they advance to the regional competition.”

The first and second place winners of Conroy’s local competition, will now advance to the regional competition, where they will have the ability to qualify for the State Finals at the 2014 Illinois State Fair on Senior Day, August 11.

“I’m thankful to the Association of Illinois Senior Centers and the Illinois Department on Aging for helping coordinate the event,” Conroy said. “I’m anticipating a great competition in the regional and State Final rounds.”
