Conroy Sponsored Bill to Eliminate Wasteful Government Signed into Law

VILLA PARK, Ill. – A bill sponsored by State Rep. Deb Conroy to eliminate inefficient and repetitive government agencies was signed into law today by the Governor. Senate Bill 494 puts a process in place for DuPage County to dissolve small units of local government that are duplicative, financially unsustainable, or lacking effective oversight. The proposal would be approved by ordinance with sufficient public notice.

“This bipartisan bill puts us on a path towards more efficient and responsible government,” said Conroy. “Families are struggling and tax payers are paying more than ever; in times like these government must be as efficient as possible and any wasteful spending must be eliminated.”

“This bill gives DuPage County the opportunity to be a leader in the state in providing efficient and responsible government,” said Conroy. “I’m hopeful that the example that we have set here in DuPage county will inspire other counties to take a look at how they increase efficiency in the services that they provide.”
