York Varsity Cheerleaders Named Grand Champions, Headed to Sectionals

York Junior Varsity also earns first place at the Northern Illinois Huskie Challenge.

York Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders took command at the Northern Illinois Huskie Challenge Sunday, Jan. 19, at NIU.

York Varsity took first place and were named Grand Champions at the event. They will be competing in the Sectional cheer competition at Rolling Meadows High School Feb. 1 in hopes on making it to the IHSA State Competition Feb 7-8.  They are coached by Dena Poulos and Brittany Mooney.

York Junior Varsity Cheerleaders have had an amazing competition season this year.  They placed second in their earlier competitions giving them an invitation to the ICCA Cheer Championships, where they again placed second.  

Last weekend at the Northern Illinois Huskie Challenge, they received a first place award to end their season. They are coached by Linda Nudera.
