York Softball Splits Double-Header with Hinsdale South Saturday

York now 2-1 for the season.

York Softball Team split a double header with Hinsdale South Saturday, March 24, winning the first game 6-4 and dropping the second 5-1. The game was held at Bryan Middle School in Elmhurst due to a location change because of rain. Hinsdale South was the home team.

In the first game, York got behind early, giving up three runs in the first inning, but they tied in the third on a three-run homer by senior Danielle Morency. York gave up another run in the bottom of the third to fall behind 4-3.  In the top of the seventh, York scored two runs on a single by Alyssa Johnson to take the lead 5-4.  York added one more run in the seventh on an RBI single by Morency.

Senior Tessa Kroll had another great outing, pitching seven innings, 6 strikeouts, four walks and no earned runs.  York won 6-4.

In game 2, York got out to an early lead in the first, 1-0, but could not hold Hinsdale South in the fourth, giving up four runs.  Errors played a large part in the loss by the Dukes, who committed four. Junior Pitcher Elena Schwarz had a good day for the Dukes, pitching six innings with six strikeouts, three walks and only two earned runs. York Lost 5-1.
